16. Go to Another maternity hospital

The previous story is here!

December 2021, mid-fifth month of my wife's pregnancy.

From this time, it is finally a checkup at the hospital where my wife will give birth.

This maternity hospital is about 30 minutes by car or train from my house.

When I arrived at the entrance of the maternity hospital with my wife, I felt a little hungry,

"I'm going to go buy some rice balls at a convenience store,"

I asked my wife to check in at this hospital, and I walked for a nearby convenience store.

It was extremely cold in Tokyo that day, and the temperature was around 4 degrees Celsius when we were heading to the maternity hospital around 9 am.

Moreover, it was hard to find a convenience store, so I walked around the outside for about 10 minutes.

I found a convenience store at last, I picked up two rice balls and a cup of hot roasted green tea.

When I looked for the "caffeine-free hot tea" that my wife asked for me, I found only one kind.

I was surprised at how few types of caffeine-free teas were available at convenience stores.

I walked around while eating rice balls and drinking roasted green tea, and returned to the maternity hospital in about five minutes from the convenience store.

When I held my face in front of the thermometer at the reception…,

Beep, beep!

This thermometer rang and displayed my temperature as 33.6°C.

When I was thinking, "Yeah, it's 4°C outside," the thermometer immediately played a loud volume,

"Surface temperature abnormal, surface temperature abnormal" was repeated twice,

a pregnant woman next to me glanced at me and took half a step away. hahaha

No, I don't have a high body temperature…,

Don't make such a loud noise, thermometer…

As I was thinking about this, a nurse immediately said in a slightly louder voice,

"It's cold outside today, isn't it~, your body temperature is displayed low, but there's nothing wrong with it. Here you go!"

Thank you for your help!!

I shouted in my heart, pretending to be calm, and thanked the nurse in a lower voice than usual.

At the reception, I received something like a nameplate that read "hospital permit" and hung it around my neck. haha

As expected, the new corona virus infection is trending, so the number of people who can enter the hospital is also restricted.

Well, well…, I hope the new coronavirus infection will converge as soon as possible and life without masks will return.

to be continued...
