Childcare Diary of New Dad

46. Baby First

The previous story is here!

It was soon after the start of my childcare leave.

Hmm...

Come to think of it, I think we can get a 100,000 yen gift card or something from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government when our baby was born, don't we?

I suddenly remembered the Tokyo Childbirth and Childcare Support Project.

It was mid-June and two months had passed since Kotaro's birth.

I wondered and looked inside my mailbox many times, but there was no indication that I had received or would receive any kind of gift certificate at all, so I went to the ward office to ask😜 haha

Then, over a month ago, the gift card was delivered to my apartment by the post office, and they even put a delivery notice in my mailbox, but I was completely unaware of it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣hahaha

I submitted Kotaro's birth certificate to the ward office on May 2, and the gift card of Baby First with its password and ID was delivered by mail on May 19, so I think it will take about three weeks from the time of notification of baby's birth to the ward office to receive this gift card at home.

The items that can be redeemed with this gift card range from consumables such as diapers and baby formula to necessities such as baby carriers and strollers, housekeeping services, and money certificates. So if you live in Tokyo, I recommend that you visit the Baby First website before your baby is born and decide what products you want to redeem with the points😁✨

By the way, those who will give birth on or after April 1, 2023 will be eligible to receive assistance equivalent to 50,000 yen per pregnant woman and 100,000 yen per child after the birth if they report the pregnancy.

Here are some of the products I recommend that I have actually redeemed with gift cards 😁✨.

List of Exchange Items
1. Gift Certificate
2. Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair
3. HOPPL COLOCOLO CHAIR&DESK
4. BabySmile Nasal Aspirator

1. Gift Certificate

I really wanted to convert all my points into gift certificates, but there was a limit to the number of points that could be converted into gift certificates for the points given, so I gave up😜hahaha

Redemption Point Limit
If 50,000 points are given: Up to a maximum of 10,000 points
If 100,000 points are given: Up to a maximum of 20,000 points

In my case, 100,000 points were given, so I redeemed 20,000 points, the maximum amount of gift certificates, for 20,000 yen worth of Kid's Gift Card!

By the way, there are two types of gift certificates: Kid's Gift Card and QUO card.

Kid's Gift Cards are very versatile and highly recommended, as they can be used at baby stores, toy stores, department stores, and supermarkets in Japan.

QUO cards, on the other hand, can be used in bookstores, convenience stores, karaoke rooms, etc. in Japan. hahaha

2. Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair

With this chair, child can eat their meals at the table at the same height as adults!

At first, with this Baby Set attached, we have had our child sitting in this highchair since the start of weaning at 6 months of age😊.

This chair is especially recommended for those who are expecting their first child and are considering preparing a baby chair😊

3. HOPPL COLOCOLO CHAIR&DESK

We finally got out the little chair when my child was over 1 year and 2 months old. hahaha

The desk is still out of commission and has been used as an adult luggage storage. haha

This chair and desk can also be used as a bookshelf, so I have a row of picture books and enjoy picking out books with my child🙌✨

As Kotaro (my child) grows older, I believe this COLOCOLO CHAIR&DESK will be used more often😎hahaha

4. BabySmile Nasal Aspirator

This past April, Kotaro started nursery school preschool, and for the first two months he had a runny nose all the time. hahaha

This seems like a nice item to relieve nasal congestion in children who cannot blow their nose by themselves yet…

For Kotaro, who is a little over a year old, this aspirator seems to be a threat and he cries a lot when I use it🤣🤣🤣hahaha

After using this he stopped coming near me for a couple of days and I have not used it since.

But I believe that when he is a little older, this will surely come in handy, so it is our secret machine that I have kept in storage. hahaha

These are my recommendations for Baby First🤗

There are many more products available, so check out the following sites to see what else you can redeem with your points👍✨
