Day 4.
Finally, it was the day to visit the birthplace of *Osamu Dazai, the main event of this solo trip to the Tohoku region in Japan!
*Osamu Dazai is a famous Japanese writer.
My birthday is June 19.
Does it ring a bell?
Yes!
June 19 is also the birthday of Osamu Dazai.
So, I started to wonder if I was a reincarnation of Osamu Dazai when I was in high school, and at this time, I really believed that I was 😜hahaha
And I thought that visiting Osamu Dazai's birthplace would bring back my memories of that time.
In order to verify the truth, I decided to visit Osamu Dazai's birthplace in Kanagi Town, Aomori Prefecture.
So, that's why, from Morioka, where I was staying, I took the Shinkansen to Aomori (Shin-Aomori).
There is no JR line between Morioka and Aomori, and I must take two private railways, IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway and Aomori Railway to go to Aomori from Morioka by train.
However, Seishun 18 tickets can be used on the Hachinohe-Aomori (Aomori Railway) section, but NOT on the Morioka-Hachinohe (IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway) section (*as of September 10, 2023).
I couldn't understand the explanation of the Seishun 18 Ticket, so I decided to take the Shinkansen for the Morioka - Aomori (Shin-Aomori) section. 🤪hahaha
As you know, the Shinkansen runs so fast.
It takes about 3 and a half hours to get from Morioka to Aomori using IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway - Aoimori Railway transfer route, but by Shinkansen it took only 1 hour to reach Aomori. 😁hahaha
From Shin-Aomori station on the Shinkansen, I changed to a conventional train and arrived at a station called Goshogawara.
From there, I transferred to the Tsugaru Railway and headed for Kanagi Town, Aomori Prefecture, where Osamu Dazai was born.
On Tsugaru Railway (written in Japanese), there was an attendant on the train who told us various stories about the train line.
One of the most surprising stories was that of the stove train.
This Tsugaru Railway has the stove train, where you can drink sake while roasting surume (dried squid) on the stove in the train.🤣hahaha
"Is there such a thing as a stove train?" I couldn't believe my ears, but it seems that the stove train does exist. haha
After getting off the train at Kanagi Station, I walked slowly to Shayokan, Osamu Dazai's birthplace.
On the way there, I found the Osamu Dazai's evacuated house<the former Tsushima family's new tatami room>(written in Japanese).
When I stopped by, the owner was very considerate and told me an interesting story about Osamu Dazai.
During our conversation, he asked me, "Are you a student?"
I was embarrassed to answer that I was a NEET, so I quickly answered, "Yes, I am a student.
