It's my Life

Episode44. Prep, class, and scoring days

The previous story is here!

Well, I have talked about preps for a long time,

for Elementary school students(4- 6 grades) : 3 hours / week

for Junior high school students(1- 3 grades) : 15 hours / every other week

Because of the above prep schedule, in my first year as a teacher, I had to set aside 10.5 hours of prep time on my two days off per week.

So, in my first year as a teacher, I spent my days off doing "Prep work, Playing DRAGON QUEST, and Running" and that was it. 😝

In such days, one of the busiest times was when Making exams and Scoring it coincided with Preps for my class.

I could not finish scoring exams, even though I kept scoring from midday on my day off until around midnight.

I went to the local super public bath for a change of pace, came home, and went straight to sleep.

It was more than once. 🤣

After an all-night class, I lost consciousness and I thought to myself,

Oh, what!? Did I just fall asleep in my class!?😱😱😱

Well like above, my first year as a teacher was full of Preparation, Teaching, and Scoring, but I was able to teach many subjects, grades, and classes and had many teaching opportunities, so I had a very fulfilling life.

Of course, it didn't always work out.

There were classes that I was removed from teaching because I could not build a relationship of trust with the students, and I was sometimes criticized for teaching classes for people who were considering joining the school, saying, "What is that class?"

But still, for me at the time, teaching classes was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed just doing the prep work for them.

Thinking about what kind of phrases would be easy to convey, how to express them in an interesting way, how to make them fun to talk about, etc., was exciting, and time flew by just thinking about it. 😁✨

However, I still hated only scoring. 😇

What also made me happy was that I was able to teach using an electronic blackboard.

However, in the first year, I did not use the electronic blackboard as much as possible because I wanted to be able to teach using only the three sacred tools of "Text, Pen, and Whiteboard," plus My own supplementary printouts, rather than relying on such device.

The electronic blackboard is certainly useful, but I did not want to be in a situation where I could not teach without it, so I voluntarily forbade the use of the electronic blackboard.

So, I was once told angrily, "Why don't you use the electronic blackboard?" 😜

By the way, I purposely wore colored or patterned shirts, sweaters, vests, etc. when I dressed for class to make me look like a more experienced person. 😎
