Thanks to the music, I gallantly made it to Osaka Abenobashi Station (Tennoji), the last stop on the Kintetsu Railway's Minami-Osaka Line, in two hours one way.
It was very emotional to come running to a place where I always come by train.
And the sparkling Christmas lights around the station blew this emotion away. hahaha
"Oh, no! I do not like Christmas!"
I was just jealous of Christmas. haha
Looking back, ever since I was in junior high school, Christmas for me was a day to run alone. hahaha
Even when I was in high school, I was asked, "What are you going to do for Christmas?" I answered, "I'm going to watch TV and run alone!" haha
When I was in high school, I loved the TV show "Let's Go to School.
The "Underage Claim" section, in which high school or junior high school students shouted their thoughts from their school rooftop, and the "B-RAP HIGH SCHOOL" section, in which funny rappers sang, were well-known.
I especially loved a group called "*軟式globe" that appeared in the "B-RAP HIGH SCHOOL" section, where they would sing parody globe songs.
*You can find movies of "軟式globe" in YouTube a lot! "軟式" means "Soft" in Japanese
It's not that I had any bad memories of Christmas, but I didn't really like Christmas because I didn't have as many good memories of it as the public's buoyant atmosphere. haha
So when I came across Christmas songs playing in the city, I was downcast and thought, "Christmas has come again…". hahaha
So, I turned back toward home without stopping at all in Tennoji, a town that is so festive during Christmas. hahaha
As one would expect, running for two hours straight can be quite tiring.
The train fare from Osaka Abenobashi station to the nearest station to my house was 390 yen.
I had a 500 yen coin in my pocket, so I wasn't sure if I should take the train home.
However, as I was living in those days with a lot of attention to my surroundings, I felt uncomfortable getting on the train in a sweaty state, so I decided to continue running on my way back home. haha
Money in possession: 500 yen remaining(One 500 yen coin)
I was also thirsty, so I paid 200 yen for a energy gel at a convenience store and drank it.
Change was thrown into the donation box because it jangled in my pocket and got in the way of running.
Money in possession: 300 yen remaining(Three 100 yen coin)
Since the energy gel was not enough to quench my thirst, I immediately bought a 150 yen bottle of Aquarius from a vending machine and chugged it right away. haha
Money in possession: 150 yen remaining(One 100 yen coin, One 50 yen coin)
After 30 minutes of turning around and 2 hours and 30 minutes of running, I started to get tired. hahaha
In order to get myself going, the music on my MD Walkman was an endless repeat of a cool song I heard at a cheerleading club performance, a big favorite of mine. haha
December 2006.
Night of Christmas Eve.
Encouraged by the song, which I still do not know the name of, I was running silently toward my home, which is more than 10 km away. hahaha
to be continued...
