Childcare Diary of New Dad

5. How should I make money during childcare leave?

The previous story is here!

Money problems can destroy my childcare leave plan.

It is no exaggeration to say that this is the biggest theme of childcare leave. hahaha

By the way, I checked the salary during childcare leave at the company I work for, it was

Unpaid.

It was just 7 characters including ".".

It’s too simple.

Oh!? What!? My plan is over!?

When I thought so, I found the annotation under the word "Unpaid".

"If certain requirements are met, the employment security office (we call it "Hello Work" in Japan) will provide benefits."

"Oh!? Really!? Can I get money from the employment security office!?", I was soooo surprised.

When I was a part time worker, I went the employment security office sometimes,

I thought there was a place to apply for unemployment insurance or find jobs, so I was very surprised to know that I can receive childcare leave benefits from this office.

I searched on the Internet for "the employment security office (Hello Work) childcare leave benefits"!

At the top of the search was the item “Continuous Employment Benefits – The employment security office (Hello Work) Internet Service”.

If you are interested in Japanese or Childcare leave in Japan, please copy and paste "ハローワーク 育児休業給付金" and look it up on the internet!

I clicked on it and found a title of Continuous employment benefits,

there were three types of benefits: Continuous employment benefits for the elderly, Childcare leave benefits, and Family care leave benefits.

Apparently, Childcare leave benefits is a type of Continuous employment benefits.

In the column of Childcare leave benefits, there were three items: Outline, Specific procedures, Contents of childcare leave benefits and Payment application procedures.

Immediately, I clicked on the Outline, but …

It's also difficult to understand. haha

In my opinion, this kind of bureaucratic text is …

Not written for readers to understand. hahaha

I'll copy and paste it to make it look like question of checking reading skills.

Childcare leave benefits is...

"Childcare leave benefits” is money paid during the childcare leave period.

In Childcare leave benefits, if you are an insured person and take childcare leave to raise a child under 1 year or 1 year and 2 months (Note1) (if the payment period is extended, 1 year and 6 months or 2 years), you can be confirmed for eligibility when you have more than 12 full months Awith more than 11 basic wage payment days OR Bwith more than 80 hours on which wages were paid (in case the childcare leave start date is after August 1, 2020 and you have less than 11 full months with more than 11 basic wage payment days) (for those who have received the basic allowance eligibility or the elderly eligibility decision in the past, it is limited to those after that) in the two years prior to the start of the leave. In addition, the childcare leave allowance will be paid if the following two requirements are met.

1. For each month during the childcare leave period, 80% or more of the monthly wage before the start of the leave must not be paid.

2. The number of working days must be 10 days(if it exceeds 10 days, the working hours are 80 hours) or less for each payment unit period(monthly period). (During the payment unit period including the end date of childcare leave, the number of working days must be 10 days(if it exceeds 10 days, the working hours are 80 hours) or less and the number of childcare leave must be 1 day or more.)

*an insured person is a generally insured person and an Insured elderly person.
