Childcare Diary of New Dad

33. April 26, 2022 -p.m.-

The previous story is here!

A little after noon, my wife sent me a picture of a delicious looking lunch. haha

At 12:28 p.m., I received a list of things to do while she was in the hospital, along with a message that she sometimes had pains similar to menstrual cramps.

With brief comments, below is the list of things I have to do while my wife is in the hospital. hahaha

My to do List
1. Freeze Chicken Dishes
It is the process of transferring the food prepared by my wife from the refrigerator to the freezer.
2. Assemble Crib
I am assembling a crib that I borrowed from friend.
3. Replace Shoji Paper
The shoji paper in my room is very thin. In addition to its thinness, there is a shining street light right next to it, so the room is very bright even in the middle of the night. As expected, it's too bright for a baby to sleep, so I'm going to replace it with light-shielding shoji paper! hahaha
4. Laundry
We have a baby coming into our house and I'LL wash baby sheets and stuff! Daddy will keep it all shiny and clean, you leave it to me, by baby!! haha

At 2:57 p.m., my wife sent a message, "I was having the baby's heartbeat measured and it's already 3 p.m.! Oh, and guess what, there is another pregnant woman in the labor room besides me!", with a picture of the cake that was served at the maternity hospital. haha

So you are in a maternity hospital and the cake is served? hahaha

I'm surprised at that. haha

Well, I will be there for the birth, but I don't know how much time I will be able to spend with my wife & baby after the birth. haha

I asked my wife to ask the hospital, and it seems that the hospital will, at their discretion, contact me when the time for delivery is approaching.

When I arrive at the hospital, I have to wait in the hallway until just before the baby is born.

Just before the birth, I go into the delivery room, take one look at the baby, who is crying well, and I have to be back in the hallway again.

After my wife's medical procedures was over and I spent about 15 minutes with her and my baby, I have to leave the hospital.

The next time I see them is 6 days later when they'll be discharged. hahaha...

(Long, Long Pause)

No, no, no, wait, wait, wait!!

After 15 minutes with the wife and baby, it is too lonely that the next time I see them will be in 6 days.

I wanna to be with them more!!

Well, that is inevitable in light of the current status of new coronavirus infections in Japan in April 2022.

Just being able to witness the birth of my baby and spend time with the 3 family members immediately following is a blessing.

In the evening, I gave up all the work that I couldn't get done and headed home. hahaha

to be continued…
