24. Komeda's Coffee and Me

The previous story is here!

February 2022.

Today is my wife's 6th checkup, and since I have used up all of my "Accompanying card", I am waiting at a coffee shop in the station closest to the maternity hospital. hahaha

This time, I'm going into *Komeda's Coffee!
*Komeda's Coffee is a coffee shop that originated in Nagoya, Japan. If you would like to visit us, please stop by when you come to Japan. Website is here→https://www.komeda.co.jp/(Written in Japanese)

Oh, what!?

Do you say, "You were at the Komeda's Coffee the other day, weren't you?"

Yeah, I know.

Indeed, last time I said, "Well, I'm going to go to Komeda’s Coffee!" and left the examination room promptly.

After that, I went in thinking it was a Komeda's Coffee, but it turned out to be a **HOSHINO COFFEE. hahaha
**Hoshino Coffee Shop is another coffee shop in Japan that originated in Saitama Prefecture. We also have outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Taiwan, but if you are ever in Japan, please stop by if you like. Website is here→https://www.komeda.co.jp/(Written in Japanese)

So this is the first time in my life that I have been to a Komeda's Coffee. haha

Since I became a working adult, I have often traveled to Nagoya, the birthplace of Komeda Coffee Shop, for work and have lived in the neighboring prefecture of Gifu.

But I had never been in a Komeda's Coffee.

I have always wanted to go there someday, and finally today it will happen, Yeah!

It was after 9 a.m. on Saturday when I entered Komeda's Coffee, and many of the seats were already occupied.

Komeda's Coffee is soooo popular.

I open the menu and decide on a hot café au lait.

And to my surprise, if you order coffee until 11:00, you get morning service, including freshly baked toast. Wow!!

This level is not just a giveaway at all. hahaha

I had always wanted to eat Ogura toast, so I ordered "Nagoya specialty ***Ogura-an(bean paste)", and "Standard boiled egg" and "Homemade coleslaw salad" separately.
***Ogura-an is anko (red bean paste) made by boiling large red beans in water with sugar and mixing with koshi-an (sweet red bean paste).

After coffee was served, breakfast specials were placed on the table one after another.

I followed my father's advice to eat vegetables first and finished the salad in one bite, then spread a generous amount of ogura-an on freshly toasted toast to create the Ogura toast I had longed for!

Nom!!

The slightly cool and exquisitely sweet ogura-an (bean paste) reigns over the bread, which is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.

It's awesome!!!

Sooooooooo delicious!!!

I finished eating a boiled egg instead of dessert and drank a cup of café au lait, and I thought,

"What a nice holiday this is!!"

Just as I cleared off the table and put my buddy, Surface Go, on the desk,

"The checkup is over! The doctor told me not to worry because our baby will go around in circles until 30 weeks, but our baby went from breech to back to normal position!",

I received a message from my wife.

I was relieved, and thinking that she had seen a doctor who could say something thoughtful today, I said to the wife,

"OK! I'm so relieved that he is turned over! I'm on my way to the station now!",

and I left the Komeda's Coffee.

to be continued…
