It's my Life

Episode.35 2010, Winter, Okinawa -Part.1-

The previous story is here!

After leaving Manzamo, we headed to my friend's university dormitory.

At the time, DRAGON QUEST IX: Guardian of the Starry Skies was all the rage on the Nintendo DS.

Check Amazon(USA)

When we arrived at his dormitory, we had a quick bite to eat, and the three of us, including his dorm mate, played a multiplayer game of DRAGON QUEST IX.

This multiplayer is sooooo fun, because everyone is playing the same game together, saying "ah-ha, this and that." hahaha

From the play screen of the Dragon Quest Ⅸ, Nintendo DS

The three of us had so much fun playing this game together that I decided to cancel the hotel I were going to stay at that day and stay at his dormitory. hahaha

Well, even though I would stay at his dormitory, my bed was on a sofa in the common area. hahaha

After 2 a.m., tired of playing, I lay down on the sofa and fell asleep.

Next morning.

As I am a big fan of *Okinawan soba, my friend took me to an Okinawan soba restaurant for breakfast.
*Okinawan soba is Okinawan - style noodle soup. Noodles are made from flour. Soup stock is made with pork and bonito flakes.

I forget the name of this restaurant, but this is open early in the morning so that cab drivers can eat there after work.

As a lover of Okinawan soba, I'm soooo happy to eat Okinawan soba in the morning. hahaha

My body was a little exhausted from sleeping on a sofa for two days in a row since I stayed in the lobby at the airport the day before, but thanks to the Okinawan soba for breakfast, I was in great spirits. haha

After finishing breakfast, the second day of my trip in Okinawa is also a drive for two guys with a friend. hahaha

Today's destination is the Himeyuri Monument.

When I rode my moped and past near the A-bomb Dome in Hiroshima, I talked about how much I scared war.

Story in Hiroshima is here!!

However, I don't know why, I have always wanted to visit **the Himeyuri Monument since I can remember.
**The Himeyuri Monument is a memorial to the Himeyuri students in Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture.

So when my friend asked me, "If you are going to come all the way to Okinawa, is there anywhere you want to go?", I immediately answered, "I wanna go to the Himeyuri Monument."

It takes about 40 minutes to drive.

We arrived at the Himeyuri Monument.

Next to the monument is the Himeyuri Peace Museum, which we entered.

After entering the museum, I naturally separated from my friend.

Inside the museum, there were many materials that conveyed the horrors of war.

One of the most shocking video was that of "flames being shot from a flamethrower into an air-raid shelter."

It was a truly horrifying.

When I left the museum, my friend who had left earlier was waiting for me.

"I've been here a few times. I'm relieved you came out later than me," my friend said, which strangely resonated with me.

Then, we quietly joined hands in front of the monument.
