Childcare Diary of New Dad

34. April 26, 2022 -night-

The previous story is here!

I came home and finished my bath in an instant, so that I would be ready to leave anytime I got a call from the maternity hospital!

At 7:10 p.m., my wife informed me that her contractions were gradually getting stronger and her cervix was 4 cm.

After getting everything ready (2 liters of water, a cushion, etc. that my wife asked me to bring), I got the caffeine into my body with a Red Bull, now what I have to do is just wait a call from the hospital.

April 26, 2022, 8:44 p.m. Drink Red Bull

After 9:30 p.m., I received a call from the maternity hospital saying, "Your wife's delivery is approaching. Please come carefully."

I quickly arranged for a car through my usual car-sharing service and headed for the maternity hospital.

I wonder if our baby is finally born.

Baby, come come into this world healthy!

Be well, my wife, too!

It took about 30 minutes of driving with a prayerful heart.

I arrived at the maternity hospital.

I pressed the intercom, said my name to the female staff at the maternity hospital, and she said to me, "Please come to the second floor where the delivery room is located," then the automatic door opened.

The first floor, where I used to come for baby checkup with my wife, was so quiet, and I took the elevator in the back of the floor.

When I arrived at the second floor and got of the elevator, no one was there.

I found a sofa in front of the room labeled "Delivery Room," and I sat on it.

Then the midwife appeared and said, "Your wife and another person are giving birth today. Please understand that you may not be able to be present for your baby's birth, as our priority is the mother and the baby".

I greeted the midwife and said, "Of course, it's okay. Please give top priority to mother and baby."

Immediately afterwards, with the strong voice of a woman who was just about to give birth, "You're almost there, so you can do it! Yes, please push as hard as you can!!", came the midwife's voice from the room to my left!

Oh, what!? Is our baby about to be born right now?

Despite my surprise, the corridor is filled with the voices of women and nurses who are about to give birth.

Come on, my wife!

Go, my baby!!

I clasped my hands tightly and prayed for the voice.

"Only a little bit left to go! Use all your strength!!," after this midwife's voice, I heard a powerful voice, and then...,

Mewl! Mewl!!オギャー!オギャー!!

I heard the voice of the baby being born!!!

Oh, what!? Has my baby just born!?

Without pause, I heard the midwife congratulate her, "You did your best, Mom! It's a healthy boy!"

WoooooooooooW!!!!!

Our baby, Kotaro, has just born!!!!!!!

I'm sooooo relieved.

Thanks God.

As I was taking a breather, the door on the right opened and a midwife appeared.

"Thank you for waiting. I'll take you to your wife," I was led to a room opposite to the direction of the birth voice I had just heard. hahaha

Apparently, the birth that just took place was not my wife, but the person who shared the room with her. hahaha

Anyway, I am glad to hear that she had a healthy baby.

Next, it's time to give birth to our baby.

to be continued…
