It's my Life

Episode47. Traveling Alone ~Around Tohoku Region in Japan②~

The previous story is here!

On the third day, I headed to Iwate Prefecture.

My destination was Konjikido in Chuson-ji Temple.
Konjikidō was built in 1124 by Kiyohira, the first lord of the Fujiwara clan in Oshu, and still retains the original appearance of Chūson-ji.

A famous Japanese haiku poet named Matsuo Basho wrote a haiku about this Konjikido and this haiku was in a Japanese textbook for third-year junior high school students.

At the time, as I was preparing for a class, I was skeptical about whether Konjikido was really gold or not. 🤔

So I decided to go see if the Konjikido in Chuson-ji is really gold. 😜hahaha

*Konjikido is housed in this building.

Konjikido in Chuson-ji is truly golden.

As might be expected of a national treasure, it was surrounded by strong glass as if it were a figurine.

Chuson-ji Konjikido is a 30-minute walk from Hiraizumi Station.

Hiraizumi Station, the closest station to Konjikido in Chuson-ji.

Hiraizumi was also the final resting place of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and I have long wanted to visit this place.
*Minamoto no Yoshitsune (1159-1189) was a Japanese military commander of the Heian period.

When I stood on the hill overlooking the Kitakami River, I was a little moved, thinking, "Ah, Yoshitsune had escaped so desperately all the way here, and then he died.

On the way back to the station, I saw a picture book in a souvenir shop that said Minamoto no Yoshitsune was active as Genghis Khan, which I found very romantic.
*Genghis Khan ended a war among many mounted nomadic tribes that had lasted for 1,800 years, united the mounted nomadic tribes, and established the Mongol Empire.

This book said that Minamoto no Yoshitsune may have actually survived and played an active role in Mongolia.

I was so impressed that I bought this book immediately🤩🤩🤩hahaha

After an hour and 20 minute train ride from Hiraizumi Station, I arrived in Morioka City, where I decided to spend the night.
