Episode46. Traveling Alone ~Around Tohoku Region in Japan①~

The previous story is here!

Before returning to Osaka, I set out on my journey alone.

I was 25 years old, unemployed, no girlfriend, single guy traveling alone in Tohoku. hahaha

I bought a Seishun 18 and took the train from Gifu Prefecture to Tokyo in Japan.

What is Seishun 18 ?
It is a magical ticket (12,050 yen) that allows unlimited rides for 5 days on any ordinary train of all JR lines. 5 tickets are bound together, and each ticket is valid for 1 day or 1 person. Although it is called "Seishun 18 Ticket", anyone can purchase & use it regardless of age 😜
By the way, unreserved seats in ordinary cars of JR trains include rapid and new rapid trains, so you can take not only local station trains but also rapid and new rapid trains 🤗

The whole time I was on the train, I played a game called "Theatrhythm Final Fantasy" on the Nintendo 3DS.

Oh, what!!

As I write this article in 2023, the latest game in the Theatrhythm Final Fantasy series has been released 🤩🤩🤩hahaha

The travel time flew by as I played this game.

Two hours had passed since I left Gifu Station.

Getting hungry, I got off at Hamamatsu station and had lunch.

I had a nice chat with the lady at a diner and was given a piece of citrus fruit.

After that, I wandered around and saw Hamamatsu Castle, had a drink with a friend from my university baseball team who met me at Shinjuku station, and I stayed his apartment that night.

First visit to Shinjuku (March 1, 2010)

On the second day, from Shinjuku, I headed north toward Sendai.

On the way, I felt hungry and got off at Utsunomiya to eat gyoza (dumplings).

This was the first time I learned that Utsunomiya is famous for its gyoza (dumplings). hahaha

I arrived in Sendai and decided to have dinner at an izakaya (Japanese style bar) within walking distance of where I stayed.

I enjoyed talking with a waitress and asked her, "What is Sendai's specialty?

She told me, "Beef tongue is famous in Sendai.

"But we only offer croquettes as a beef tongue dish. If you'd like, you can try it. How about it?"

I ordered the beef tongue croquette as recommended by her.

I tried it right away and I noticed it was a delicious ordinary croquette 🤣🤣🤣hahaha

The food was delicious, the waitress was very friendly, and I would love to go back, but I completely forgot the name of the izakaya (Japanese style bar) 😇 hahaha
