Thanks to the overnight stay in the airport lobby, I was able to go through the boarding process with plenty of time and ease in my mind. hehehe
Departing from Kansai Airport, I arrived at Naha Airport in Okinawa, Japan, about two and a half hours later.
This is my first trip to Okinawa.
I thought Okinawa was a very far place, but once I got on the plane, it didn't take long at all. haha
I was soooo impressed to see the ocean from the window of the plane, which was exactly the same as I had imagined the Okinawan ocean to be.
I'm going to change the subject a bit, but I DO NOT LIKE cold winter weather.
"The high temperature of 20 degrees Celsius is so warm! I wish I could be in Okinawa right now," during the cold winter days, I would look at the temperatures in Okinawa and escape from reality like this. hahaha
So when I arrived in Okinawa, I wanted to say, "It's SOOOO WARM in spite of winter! Okinawa is the best!!"
But guess what?
When I first set foot on the mainland of Okinawa on January 26, 2010, the maximum temperature in Naha City was 18.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum 14.8 degrees Celsius, not as warm as I expected. hahaha
If anything, when I left the airport around 10:00 AM, it was a bit chilly because the wind was blowing. haha
I thought to myself, "Damn, this is not the warmth I was hoping for…," but then I got myself together and ate my favorite dish, taco rice. hehe
Then, in a good mood, I took the monorail to the meeting spot with my friend.
"On the first day, I'll show you my recommendations!" and I got into the car of my friend who came to pick me up and began our drive with two guys. hahaha
As we were driving down the road, a car with a license plate I had never seen before was driving in front of us.
I wondered and asked my friend, "What is that?"
"That's a U.S. military vehicle. If you hit them, you will be judged by American law, so don't ever hit them," he told me with a laugh.
And that's the U.S. military base," he pointed to a space surrounded by gray iron bars.
Oh!? What!? U.S. military bases is soooo huge!!!!
It has only been a few hours since I arrived here, but I was very surprised to see the presence of the U.S. military in people's daily lives in Okinawa.
My friend brought me to a grassy park called Manzamo in Onna Village.
There, on top of a 20-meter limestone cliff, was a lawn with a panoramic view of the East China Sea.
The ocean as far as the eye could see was amazingly beautiful.
